During Your Labor

Except for extraordinary circumstances I will remain with you throughout your labor and birth

After the Birth

I will remain with you for one to two hours after birth, until you are comfortable and your family is ready for quiet time together. I can also help with initial breastfeeding, if necessary.

Postpartum Visit

I am available for phone contact to answer questions (or just listen). I woud like to pay a visit within one to two weeks to see how you and the baby are doing and to review the birth. I am also available to phone or in-person support for breastfeeding questions at any time after the birth.

What doulas do not do

  • Perform clinical tasks such as blood pressure, fetal heart checks or vaginal exams.
  • Make decisions for you.
  • Speak on your behalf to the medical staff concerning your care.
  • Interfere with fathers and other birth partners during labor and birth.
